VP, Liquidity Product Manager-Transaction Banking
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of the Liquidity Product Management Transaction Banking of Americas (TBA), the Senior Product Manager will focus on the management and delivery of Transaction Banking Liquidity Products within the United States, with a primary emphasis on the virtual account management product. This role aligns with MUFG’s bank offerings, specifically on-balance sheet deposit options. As part of the Liquidity Solutions Team, the incumbent will collaborate with vendors, technology teams, sales, product and project managers, and subject matter experts (e.g., risk, finance, operations, and servicing teams) to ensure a market-leading product that meets strategic vision and success criteria.
The role also involves close collaboration with the Transaction Banking Division (TBD) in Tokyo and other regional teams to support the global management of liquidity products and deposit portfolios, including platform management, prioritization of global initiatives, and setting enterprise-wide direction. The job holder may occasionally serve as a liaison between TBA and TBD.
This position is based in either New York or Los Angeles, with a hybrid schedule of four days in the office or at client sites and one day working remotely.
Responsibilities
Product Strategy and Delivery
- Responsible for end-to-end product management and development of a new virtual account management product.
- Provides day-to-day support and may work alongside the Deposits Product Manager.
- Assist client delivery teams with onboarding, system configuration for customer set-up, and user maintenance.
- Proactively communicate identified system issues to ensure a seamless product experience for clients.
- Produce and monitor monthly reports of key performance indicators to manage and drive P&L revenue targets and identify emerging balance and revenue trends.
- Participate in vetting sales opportunities and support sales in new opportunities, including responding to RFPs.
- Assist in the creation of strategy presentations defining markets, product design, profitability, alternative systems, operating expenditures, capitalization, and other factors.
- Serve as a key participant in product life cycle activities, including new product/feature approval tasks, drafting marketing and sales support materials, developing operating procedures, and representing the business to operational, project, and technology teams.
- Leverage solutions across multiple markets to improve time to market, create consistent customer experiences, and manage delivery of services to attract and retain customers while responding to industry and customer needs.
- Support the development of business cases for technology investments.
- Coordinate the development and enhancement of the product set between Project Managers, Operations, Client Delivery, IT partners, and other stakeholders. Rollout plans may require weekend/after-hours application testing.
- Maintain awareness of major industry trends and evaluate enhancement opportunities.
Product Risk Management
- Actively participate in periodic product risk assessments and procedure reviews.
- Proactively identify and address risk issues, including remediation of product-related audit and/or self-identified issues.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of regulatory implications on bank liquidity and effects on clients.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience in product management, operations, service, or business analysis in the wholesale/transaction banking market.
- Knowledge of delivering Transaction Banking services to Asian corporate clients is preferred.
- A goal-oriented team player with the ability to develop partnerships and collaborate across the institution and within the industry.
- Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization and prepare and deliver executive-level presentations.
- Collaborative with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to excel in execution of complex and demanding situations.
- Detail-oriented with a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Technical working knowledge of industry cash management standard payment file formats.
- Good understanding of investment vehicles such as money market mutual funds.
- Ability to work autonomously and initiate and prioritize own work.
- Solid judgment and strong negotiation skills.
- Strong skills in data gathering, analysis, and interpretation.
- Familiarity with bank systems and online banking management.
- Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Products (with emphasis on Power BI, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Working knowledge of Confluence or other collaboration platforms.
- Flexible worker, with ability to travel if required.
Pay
The typical base pay range for this role is between $109,000 and $168,000, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonuses and/or incentive compensation.
