Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior EHS authority for the organization, owning strategy, standards, and culture across all current sites with accountability for scaling the program nationally as we grow
- Architect, incentivize, and govern a company-wide Near Miss Program, leveraging shop-floor data to eliminate hazards proactively; oversee corporate framework for incident investigations, root-cause closure, and Workers' Compensation management in partnership with HR and Legal
- Assess the current EHS program across all sites, identify gaps, and build a unified set of standards, protocols, and repeatable deployment frameworks so every new site launches with the same baseline
- Drive a continuous improvement loop for safety SOPs, standardizing safety-critical work instructions and operational procedures across all facilities
- Lead workforce safety readiness for new sites — hazard assessments, emergency response planning, and initial training ramp - and architect ongoing training programs for a growing and evolving workforce
- Build a safety culture that goes beyond compliance, where frontline workers are engaged, incidents are reported early, and near-miss data drives change
- Assess, select, and implement modern EHS technology - including EHS management platforms, IoT-enabled monitoring, predictive analytics, and AI-assisted risk identification - replacing manual processes with real-time digital workflows
- Own EHS KPIs and reporting cadence for senior leadership; use data to proactively identify risk trends and make the business case for continued investment
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, HR, and Legal to embed EHS thinking into every stage of the business
- Ensure consistent compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations across jurisdictions; serve as primary liaison with regulatory agencies
Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive EHS experience, with at least 7 years in a senior or executive leadership role in industrial or heavy manufacturing; advanced degree or MBA a plus
- Proven track record managing EHS across multiple facilities simultaneously, including leading programs through significant growth - new site buildouts, rapid headcount scaling, and geographic expansion
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA frameworks, EPA environmental guidelines, and multi-jurisdictional compliance
- Hands-on experience implementing EHS technology, digital transformation initiatives, or data-driven safety programs, including automated monitoring and real-time compliance reporting platforms
- Systems thinker and proactive problem solver - you don't solve the same problem twice, you build the process that prevents it from recurring
- CSP or CIH preferred; CHMM a plus
