VP, Head of Procurement
About the role
For our client, we are seeking a VP, Head of Procurement to join the team of a leader in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech space. This leader will shape the procurement function at a high-growth life sciences organization and establish the strategy, operating model, and governance needed to support the business at scale. The role will partner closely with Finance, Legal, IT, and business leaders to strengthen sourcing discipline, supplier performance, and compliance across the enterprise. It is a highly visible opportunity to drive measurable savings, improve procurement processes, and help build a scalable foundation for long-term operational excellence.
Location: Waltham, MA - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Responsibilities
- Establish and execute the procurement vision and roadmap
- Design scalable source-to-pay processes and policies
- Develop a fit-for-purpose operating model
- Collaborate with IT on procurement system optimization
- Lead procurement compliance and audit readiness
- Lead high-value sourcing initiatives and negotiations
- Align with Finance and Legal on procurement activities
- Build relationships to drive adherence to procurement practices
- Deliver insights on savings and supplier performance
- Establish CSR initiatives within procurement practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- 20+ years of procurement experience in biotech/pharma
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP/procurement systems
- Experience in global business with matrix management
- Self-starter with excellent organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and planning abilities
- Proven track record in leading high-dollar, complex initiatives
- Ability to create timely reports and metrics
- Effective negotiation skills
- Demonstrated leadership in high-growth environments
- Strong communication skills across all organizational levels

Pay
Compensation: $272,000 – $340,000 annually
