About the role
The VP, Financial Advisor provides sound financial advice to clients by evaluating their financial condition, needs, and future goals. This role requires staying current with procedures, regulations, and market changes, as well as maintaining knowledge of products and services offered. The Financial Advisor partners with retail branches and other Kearny Bank departments to meet sales goals established by management.
Responsibilities
- Actively engage in sales activities, including supporting platform sales staff in assigned branches and assisting team members as needed.
- Coordinate and maintain OSJ and other compliance files, including advertising, complaint, client files, and correspondence; respond to regulatory audits as necessary.
- Assist in providing compliance and sales training to staff and non-licensed branch employees.
- Maintain a network of outside and internal referral sources, such as attorneys, accountants, real estate brokers, and other business professionals.
- Ensure regular and timely communication of important client, product, regulatory, and other information among the sales team, management, branch staff, and external contacts.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of investment planning, bank products, and services, as well as industry trends, laws, and regulations.
- Provide financial advice, planning support, and access to financial products and services to current and prospective clients.
- Develop sales leads through prospecting and interaction with branch partners within a defined territory.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities with internal partners and cross-refer to all areas of the bank.
- Provide ongoing coaching and development to team members in the respective territory.
- Educate branch retail staff on the bank’s Investment Program and mentor interested employees.
- Profile existing clients and re-evaluate their short-term and long-term investment needs.
- Offer subject matter expertise to retail branch teams on sales techniques, product availability, and opportunities for new and existing clients.
- Meet regularly with Retail Relationship Managers within the territory and make cross-referrals back to the branches covered.
- Ensure appropriate FA coverage of branches and maintain standard hours as dictated in each branch.
- Follow up on all cross-referrals and received referrals regularly.
- Develop and execute a plan to achieve sales goals, using in-depth knowledge of required actions and effective time management.
- Inform management of progress relative to goals and request assistance for training or other issues as needed.
- Provide referral and product training to non-licensed employees as needed.
- Participate in activities to promote community growth and a positive image for the bank.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in banking or a financial institution.
- FINRA Series 7, 63, and 66 or 65 licenses, and State Insurance License.
- Ability to meet and exceed client experience needs and identify client/project needs.
- Knowledge of bank products, services, sweep accounts, and cash management services.
- Proven ability to model relationship-building techniques and effectively cross-sell.
- Strong conflict resolution and communication skills (listening, speaking, and written).
- Ability to build client relationships and internal/external networks.
- Proven sales ability with a strong track record of past investment sales success.
- In-depth knowledge of the retail investment industry.
- Willingness to travel to other locations and adapt to schedule changes, including evenings and weekends.
- Self-starter, goal-oriented, and able to work independently while also being a team player.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook.
- Ability to interact effectively and tactfully with all levels of the bank.
- Ability to read, write, and speak clearly.
Pay
$45,000 to $88,000 base salary plus a competitive commissions program.
