About the role

The VP, Financial Advisor provides sound financial advice to clients by evaluating their financial condition, needs, and future goals. This role requires staying current with procedures, regulations, and market changes, as well as maintaining knowledge of products and services offered. The Financial Advisor partners with retail branches and other Kearny Bank departments to meet sales goals established by management while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage in sales activities, including supporting platform sales staff in assigned branches and assisting team members as needed.
  • Coordinate and maintain compliance files, including advertising, complaint logs, client files, and correspondence; respond to regulatory audits as necessary.
  • Assist in providing compliance and sales training to staff and non-licensed branch employees.
  • Maintain a network of internal and external referral sources, such as attorneys, accountants, real estate brokers, and other professionals, ensuring strong business relationships and up-to-date knowledge of investment products.
  • Ensure regular and timely communication of client, product, regulatory, and other critical information among the sales team, management, and external contacts.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of investment planning, bank products, and industry trends, including laws and regulations.
  • Provide financial advice, planning support, and access to financial products and services to current and prospective clients.
  • Develop sales leads through prospecting and interaction with branch partners within a defined territory.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities with internal partners and cross-refer to all areas of the bank.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and development to team members, ensuring a thorough understanding of products, sales techniques, and systems.
  • Educate branch retail staff on the bank’s Investment Program and mentor interested employees.
  • Meet sales goals established by management through outbound calls, managing books of business, attending networking events, and profiling existing clients.
  • Offer subject matter expertise to retail branch teams on sales techniques, product availability, and opportunities for new and existing clients.
  • Meet regularly with Retail Relationship Managers within the territory to facilitate cross-referrals.
  • Ensure appropriate coverage of branches and maintain standard hours as required.
  • Follow up on all cross-referrals and received referrals regularly.
  • Develop and execute a plan to achieve sales goals, including time management and progress reporting to management.
  • Provide referral and product training to non-licensed employees as needed.
  • Participate in community activities to promote the bank’s positive image.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in banking or a financial institution.
  • FINRA Series 7, 63, and 66 or 65 licenses, and a State Insurance License.
  • Ability to meet and exceed client experience needs and identify client/project requirements.
  • Knowledge of bank products, services, sweep accounts, and cash management services.
  • Proven ability to model relationship-building techniques and effectively cross-sell.
  • Strong conflict resolution and communication skills (listening, speaking, and written).
  • Ability to build client relationships and internal/external networks.
  • Demonstrated integrity, adaptability, and commitment in all situations.
  • Proven sales ability with a strong track record of investment sales success.
  • In-depth knowledge of the retail investment industry.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-starter, goal-oriented, and able to work independently while being a team player.
  • Willingness to travel to other locations and adapt to schedule changes, including evenings and weekends.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook.
  • Ability to interact effectively and tactfully with all levels of the bank.
  • Strong reading, writing, and speaking skills.

Pay

$45,000 to $88,000 base salary plus a competitive commissions program.
