VP, Environmental Underwriter
About the role
The Vice President, Underwriter position is available on Sompo's North America Environmental team. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of underwriting/insurance experience in environmental, construction, or professional areas.
Responsibilities
- Agility in underwriting to efficiently and comprehensively review submission documents to determine acceptability of risk in accordance with Sompo guidelines
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of pricing and rating methodology
- Price risk based on underwriting and competitive analysis
- Select, price and craft terms and conditions for risks in an innovative and competitive manner
- Communicate with strong sales and negotiation skills to promote Sompo proposals and brand, that result in positive production results
- Exhibit strong decision-making skills
- Maintain underwriting discipline to minimize exposure
- Select, price and craft terms and conditions for risks in an innovative and competitive manner
- Establish and maintain distribution relationships (Retail and Wholesale)
- Manage and maintain distribution relationships
- Generate new business pipeline for specified classes and manage business renewal book
- Drive new business volume and production, along with marketing and sales responsibility
Requirements
Preferably 10 years of underwriting/insurance experience in environmental, construction or professional areas
Bachelor’s Degree, strongly preferred
Strong market presence and visibility
Consistent production track record
Extensive depth of product and market knowledge
Ability to establish, manage and maintain distribution and clients
Strong marketing, sales and negotiation skills
Ability to work as a part of a team with a collaborative communication approach
Consistent emphasis with attention to detail
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to present referrals, products, and capabilities to various audiences in different settings
Qualifications

Pay
$190,000.00 - $250,000.00
Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
