About the role
Play an integral role in the department's activities with a high level of responsibility as a member of a specific industry-focused team. Responsibilities include formulating new business proposals, executing sell-side and buy-side M&A transactions, capital raises, strategic advisory engagements, and other corporate finance assignments for consumer companies.
Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of mergers and acquisitions, capital raising transactions, and strategic advisory engagements.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day client contact, managing relationships with executive management teams, boards of directors, private equity sponsors, and strategic buyers.
- Oversee transaction execution from initial engagement through closing, including valuation analyses, due diligence, negotiation support, documentation, and coordination among all parties.
- Direct the preparation and review of financial models, valuation analyses, confidential information memoranda, management presentations, pitch materials, and board presentations.
- Manage transaction teams by overseeing associates and analysts, providing coaching, allocating responsibilities, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality work product.
- Cook up and coordinate internal and external advisors, including legal counsel, accountants, lenders, consultants, and other transaction participants to ensure efficient execution.
- Support senior bankers in originating new business opportunities by developing marketing strategies, preparing client presentations, participating in prospect meetings, and maintaining relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Identify industry trends, strategic opportunities, valuation developments, and market dynamics within the consumer sector to provide informed advice to clients and support business development initiatives.
- Review and ensure the accuracy, quality, and consistency of all client deliverables while maintaining adherence to firm standards and regulatory requirements.
- Drive efficient transaction management by proactively identifying execution risks, resolving issues, and maintaining project timelines.
- Mentor and develop junior bankers through regular coaching, performance feedback, and technical training to foster professional growth and team excellence.
- Collaborate with industry and product partners across the firm to deliver integrated advisory solutions and enhance client relationships.
- Contribute to the continued growth of the Consumer Investment Banking practice through thought leadership, market intelligence, and active participation in recruiting and team development initiatives.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, corporate finance, and strategic advisory.
- Advanced financial modeling and valuation capabilities, including DCF, comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, LBO, merger models, and complex scenario analyses.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead multiple live transactions from initial engagement through closing.
- Strong client relationship management skills, with the ability to serve as the primary day-to-day contact for corporate executives, private equity sponsors, and other key stakeholders.
- Pioneered business development capabilities, including identifying opportunities, cultivating client relationships, and supporting new client origination efforts.
- Exceptional project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple internal and external workstreams under tight deadlines.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, including experience presenting recommendations to executive management teams and boards of directors.
- Sound commercial judgment, strategic thinking, and the ability to identify key value drivers and transaction risks.
- High degree of professionalism, integrity, and client service orientation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and financial information platforms including Capital IQ, FactSet, Bloomberg, and PitchBook.
- Strong knowledge of the consumer sector, including industry trends, competitive dynamics, valuation drivers, and transaction activity.
