About the role

The Branch Manager at Cathay Bank is responsible for the overall success of the branch, focusing on retaining banking relationships and developing new business. The role involves managing and supervising the entire staff, making business development calls, overseeing staff training, and representing the bank in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the branch office to meet administrative, compliance, operational, sales, and service objectives.
  • Solicit new business and improve services to clients through regular business development calls.
  • Train and guide staff to provide appropriate bank products and services, ensuring continuous quality service.
  • Motivate staff to increase sales and provide commendable service.
  • Develop and implement sales programs and campaigns, hold weekly sales/service meetings, and assess sales results.
  • Maintain and enhance business relationships with clients, including loan solicitation and management.
  • Set and monitor the branch's budget and expenses, ensuring compliance with bank policies and procedures.
  • Coach and counsel staff, address human resource issues, and arrange for training and cross-training.
  • Exercise sound judgment, exercise leadership qualities, and manage staff effectively.
  • Exercise strong sales and sales management abilities, and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Represent the bank in the community through involvement in various civic and charitable activities.
  • Exercise discretion and authority to approve loans, overdrafts, checks, withdrawals, fee reversals, and other items.
  • Handle human resource issues and resolve client complaints.

Qualifications

  • College degree in business or finance preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years banking experience, including 2 years in a branch management role in a commercial bank.
  • Good knowledge of commercial lending products and thorough understanding of federal/state and IRS regulations.
  • Strong leadership qualities, including planning, organizing, motivating, supervising, and delegating.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills, with the ability to conduct business development calls.
  • Bilingual Mandarin or Cantonese preferred.

The pay range is $75K – $100K per year, with the possibility of a discretionary bonus.
