VP Assistant Controller

About the role
The VP Assistant Controller will primarily manage the Accounting Department, the monthly close cycle, and the preparation of monthly financial reports. Responsibilities include ensuring internal control compliance, assisting with the NetSuite implementation, preparing financials and footnotes, conducting technical accounting research, and drafting memos. You will also assist with the annual audit and perform financial statement variance analysis. Some travel may be required.
Responsibilities
- Ensure maintenance of complete and accurate general ledgers and financial records for the entire enterprise.
- Review and approve all vouching schedules.
- Own and ensure timely completion of the monthly close process.
- Prepare all internal accounting-related reports, including the monthly close package.
- Ensure required financial reporting, pro-forma reporting, and other analyses are complete, accurate, and timely (including all SBA and other government requirements).
- Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, enforcing, and maintaining policies and procedures.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of bank accounts, balances, Treasury systems, and bank cost information.
- Support the maintenance of cash management policies and procedures to meet changing business requirements and adhere to SOX controls and banking regulations.
- Coordinate a service plan with the independent accounting firm, including interim reviews and the year-end audit, culminating in financial reporting to the SBA and other external parties.
- Ensure accurate and timely tax compliance, including income taxes and operating taxes with Deloitte.
- Provide leadership, direct supervision, training, and development of staff while ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
- Contribute to the business planning process, support mergers and acquisitions, and handle special projects as assigned.
- Prepare quarterly consolidated financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, statements of cash flows, and statements of changes in equity.
- Assist with quarterly MD&A to communicate results to external parties.
- Perform other reporting and analysis as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 10+ years of work experience.
- CPA and/or MBA preferred.
- Experience in the Banking/Financial Services Industry.
- Experience leading an Accounting Team.
- NetSuite and Workiva experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data query tools.
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, IF statements).
- Technical accounting research experience.

Pay
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000–$194,000 annually. Individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and state of residence.
Physical Requirements
This is a stationary position that requires frequent sitting (approximately 95%), repetitive wrist motions, grasping, speaking, listening, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. It may also require occasional standing, lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs, walking, kneeling, bending/stooping, twisting, pulling/pushing, and reaching above the shoulder.
