VP & Actuary - A&H - Eatontown, NJ or Remote

About the role

Crum & Forster Accident & Health is seeking a talented individual to lead our Actuarial team. Reporting to the Chief Actuary, this role will involve leading process improvement, leveraging technology solutions, and providing strategic direction to the Actuarial group.

Responsibilities

• Leadership in process improvement and technology solutions
• Leverage technology solutions to support all actuarial aspects
• Collaborate with business and shared service leaders to support actuarial initiatives
• Create and maintain profitability analyses and reviews for all product lines
• Analyze program experience and develop appropriate corrective actions
• Create analyses for underwriters and senior management in support of new and existing programs
• Affirm and implement underwriting guidelines, including credibility tables, completion factors, and experience rating
• Develop rating support and memorandums for state Department of Insurance filings
• Manage and respond to filing objections
• Prepare recommendations for reserve changes
• Drive performance excellence through goal-setting, quality feedback, and performance appraisals
• Guide and direct team members in their personal and professional development
• Drive and role model the A&H culture, values, and C&F core competencies within their teams

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
• At least 15+ years of Actuarial experience
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA)
• 3+ years prior people management experience
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Access, and some programming skills (SQL, SAS, VBA)
• Must abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with C&F’s risk management controls
• Ability to travel (20-30%)
