Residential Hospice cares for medical needs as well as spiritual and emotional needs. Our team is comprised of physicians, registered nurses, social workers, and spiritual care counselors who work together to care for the whole patient.

Responsibilities

• Provide comfort, companionship, and friendship to hospice patients in nursing facilities or at home
• Engage with patients based on their individual needs and preferences
• Read aloud to patients
• Do puzzles or games with patients
• Attend facility activities with patients
• Listen to music with patients
• Talk and converse with patients
• Offer a supportive presence, including holding a hand
• Provide respite for caregivers by sitting with patients while caregivers take time for themselves

Impact

As a Hospice Patient Support Volunteer, your presence and support can make a meaningful impact for patients and their families navigating the end-of-life journey. Hospice patients have a terminal diagnosis and limited life expectancy, and they and their loved ones often face many emotional stressors. Volunteers provide essential comfort and companionship during this challenging time.
