Volunteer: Research & Curatorial Working Group: Forest Policy Atlas
Overview
The Taproot Foundation is assembling a small interdisciplinary research team to develop the first Forest Policy Atlas. This project is part of the Forest Encounters initiative, which aims to make the complex policy landscape related to forest loss more legible and actionable.
Responsibilities
- Review and synthesize existing material on forest protection and deforestation-free commodity markets.
- Identify important gaps and precedents in the French and EUDR frameworks for forest trade reforms.
- Begin shaping the narrative and organizational logic of the Atlas.
- Create a preliminary chronology and map of key legal and policy developments.
- Research and compile key information on the French and EUDR frameworks.
- Develop a structured source library and research bibliography.
- Identify significant gaps, questions, and areas requiring further research.
Requirements
Researchers should have:
- Experience with policy analysis and research.
- Knowledge of forest protection and deforestation issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong writing and analytical skills.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- A degree in environmental studies, policy, economics, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in policy research or environmental advocacy.
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
