VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Goodwill seeks online tutors for MATH for adults (Basic Math up to Geometry)

Description

Goodwill of Southwestern PA is looking for individuals who enjoy helping others to make an impact in the adult learning community by working one-on-one with adult students that are working towards completing their high school equivalency diplomas.

Responsibilities

• Help adult students prepare for their math exams, focusing on basic math, algebra, and geometry skills (8th grade level).
• Work one-on-one with students during the day or evening, typically 3-4 hours per week.
• Meet with the student on Zoom to provide support and answer questions.
• Complete a free and quick PA criminal background check before starting.
• Receive training and guidance from the Volunteer Coordinator and adult education instructors.

Requirements

• Experience teaching basic math, algebra, and geometry skills (8th grade level).
• Available during the day or evening.
• Comfortable teaching basic math skills to adult learners.
• Patience and willingness to work with adult learners who may struggle with these skills.
