Volunteer - Nordic (2026)
Position Summary
As a Nordic Center Volunteer, you will support the daily operations of Snow Mountain Ranch’s award-winning Nordic Center. With over 100 kilometers of beautifully groomed ski trails, the Center offers guests a world-class Nordic skiing experience in the Rocky Mountains. Your responsibilities include opening and closing the facility, fitting and recording ski rentals, assisting with the sale of equipment, and issuing trail passes. You will also help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the Center and its surrounding areas, assist during race days and special events, and provide excellent customer service.
Requirements
Minimum service commitment of 24 to 28 hours per week, depending on the season.
Peak Season (28 hours/week): Saturday before Memorial Day through Saturday after Labor Day, and two Saturdays before Christmas through the first weekend of April.
Off-Peak Season (24 hours/week): First weekend of April through Saturday before Memorial Day, and Saturday after Labor Day through two Saturdays before Christmas.
Qualifications
Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Current certifications in First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain upon arrival).
Demonstrated proficiency in Nordic skiing, using both classical and skate techniques.
Ability to teach beginner and intermediate students in classical and skate skiing.
Knowledge of techniques aligned with USSA Level 100 guidelines and additional standards set by the Nordic Center Director or Assistant Director.
Practical knowledge of waxing techniques for both classical and skate skis.
Ability to provide technique and waxing advice to guests.
Familiarity with the Snow Mountain Ranch trail system and a genuine enthusiasm for Nordic skiing and outdoor recreation.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
Comfortable working outdoors in varying winter weather conditions, including cold temperatures and snow.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 40 lbs required.
Must be able to ski for extended periods and move efficiently on snow-covered terrain.
Regular interaction with guests, staff, and volunteers in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
