About the role
The Volunteer Meals on Wheels Driver is a part-time, on-site role.
Responsibilities
- Pick up prepared meals from designated locations
- Deliver meals to older adults and persons with disabilities along scheduled routes
- Follow delivery schedules
- Safely operate vehicles
- Accurately record deliveries or any changes
- Provide brief, friendly check-ins with clients
- Report any concerns to program staff
- Help ensure that each recipient receives their meals in a timely, respectful manner
Qualifications
- Ability to safely operate a vehicle and to work comfortably with vehicles in local community settings
- Strong Communication and Customer Service skills to interact respectfully with clients, staff, and volunteers
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to meet organizational insurance requirements
- Dependable, punctual, and able to follow delivery routes and instructions with minimal supervision
- Ability to lift and carry meal containers and navigate stairs or ramps as needed
- Commitment to supporting older adults and persons with disabilities with empathy and professionalism
- Must be 21 or older
