About the role
The Volunteer Coordinator assists partner mission hospitals and clinics around the world in meeting their medical needs and by supporting medical professionals who volunteer at these locations on short-term service assignments.
Responsibilities
- Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
- Provide information, oversight and guidance to all volunteers through the entire logistical process.
- Act as communication intermediary between volunteers and the mission hospital and clinic staff.
- Serve as public relations liaison between the volunteers, the travel agency, and donors to aid in their understanding of service to mission hospital/clinic in foreign countries, as well as a comprehensive understanding of World Medical Mission and Samaritans Purse ministries.
- Ensure volunteers understand donation and expense reimbursement procedures and work with Expense Coordinator to ensure that donations and expenses are processed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Manage a wide variety of logistical issues, which may include emergencies. Problem-solve, trouble-shoot, and offer viable solutions.
- Keep accurate and detailed volunteer account records by documenting communications, materials sent, and other necessary items pertaining to each service assignment.
- Aid in training new Coordinators and updating procedure manuals as requested.
- Work in coordination with other Coordinators to update and restructure hospital and clinic orientation materials on an ongoing basis.
- Participate in conferences, meetings, and prepare reports and presentations as requested.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree and at least two (2) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- General knowledge of international affairs, foreign policy, and fundamental political frameworks within each country of oversight.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and the general public.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
