About the Role

English Rose is seeking volunteers to brighten the days of residents in our Assisted Living and Memory Care homes through our unique Volunteer Program in Edina and Minnetonka. We offer flexible opportunities—visit once or on an ongoing basis.

Volunteer Training

We provide all volunteers with FREE in-person or virtual dementia training in The English Rose Dementia Approach.

Responsibilities

• Visit: Spend time with our residents, share stories, and enjoy meaningful conversations.
• Present: Share your interests, passions, and talents with residents who enjoy learning new things.
• Perform: Showcase your musical, singing, or dancing talents for our residents.
• Engage: Participate in activities like games, puzzles, walks, gardening, or baking.

Ways to Volunteer

• Join an Ongoing Activity Group:
  • Walking Group
  • Sweeties Baking Club
  • Arts & Crafts Class
• Become an English Rose "Buddy": Be matched with a resident to build an ongoing, meaningful friendship (open to individuals and families; ideal for those exploring healthcare careers).
• Work with our Volunteer Coordinator to develop a one-time or ongoing opportunity tailored to your talents and interests.

Requirements

• Must be at least 14 years old (younger volunteers may participate if accompanied by an adult).
• Able to pass the MDH background check and tuberculosis screening.
• Strong verbal skills in English.
