Volunteer: ADUD Europe & Lusophone Diaspora Partnership and Policy Scan

This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. Approximately 2–4 hours per week for 6–8 weeks ADUD is strengthening its international partnership and diaspora-engagement pipeline. We are seeking a volunteer to prepare a concise, practical scan of Europe-based and Europe-linked organizations, networks and opportunities that may be relevant to ADUD’s mission and future work. The scan may include diaspora institutions, civil-society organizations, universities, cultural organizations, development actors, public-interest institutions and potential philanthropic or program partners. It will include a focused Portugal/Lusophone perspective while maintaining a broader Europe-wide view. Nonprofit, community-based, international-development or mission-driven experience is highly desired. Strong research, writing, analytical judgment and discretion are essential. This is a focused research and opportunity-mapping project—not an ongoing European strategy, fundraising, legal-advisory or diplomatic role. The project can begin independently and may later inform ADUD’s relaunch roadmap, partnership pipeline, international-affairs work, VOAD research, website planning and grant-readiness efforts. Those activities are separate and are not part of this deliverable. By the end of this project, the consultant will deliver an approved ADUD Europe & Lusophone Diaspora Partnership and Policy Scan consisting of: A brief review of ADUD’s relevant international priorities and selection criteria. A structured map of approximately 15–20 Europe-based or Europe-linked prospects using publicly available information. A prioritized shortlist of approximately 5–7 prospects, with mission fit, potential value, relevant ADUD workstream, public eligibility or access considerations, risk flags and suggested next steps. A focused Portugal/Lusophone diaspora section. A concise policy, regulatory and geopolitical issues log identifying matters that may require later expert review. A structured matrix that ADUD can later transfer into its partnership and workstream-management systems. A short leadership brief and handoff discussion. African Diaspora United, Inc. Mission: ADUD is a non-partisan, non-profit organization created to ultimately empower African diaspora communities worldwide, by engaging and partnering with individuals, businesses, agencies, and institutions in a collaborative effort to heavily contribute to the educational and social development of Africa and to build a stronger community. The vision of ADUD is to improve the partnership opportunities for our African diaspora communities, so that together we can stand strong to address the social and educational issues and lacks in Africa. ADUD staff and trained volunteers will educate, connect people to resources and encourage community collaboration addressing subtopics including but not limited to health, youth, families, welfare and community development. Our programs are developed in direct response to community need. In a global view, ADUD understands that for all of the reasons, whether it be for the pursuit of increased economic and civil stability, for increased health well-being, or if it is to embark on a new job or join a loved one, the African Diaspora target community in this 21st Century, consists of people of African origin living outside their country of origin, irrespective of their current citizenship and nationality, who are willing to contribute to the development of Africa, starting with their local community. Through our principal pillars Help, Educate, Lead, and Promote Philanthropy (H.E.L.P.), we assist our local diaspora communities by connecting people to resources here and abroad by offering specialized educational programs and projects, by offering various workshops on awareness of community needs and integration, healthy living, etc. and other educational trainings, coordinating social and professional networking events, and providing organized opportunities to give back to our local communities and our countries.
