VOLATUS HEALTH: SENIOR BACKEND ENGINEER

About the role

We are seeking a highly seasoned Senior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team at Volatus Health. You will be responsible for designing and managing our data model, ensuring the database is highly performant, reliable, scalable, and secure. You will also integrate external APIs, work on AI integration, and contribute to the development of our SaaS application.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage our data model comprising a variety of internal and external medical data
• Ensure the database is highly performant, reliable, scalable, and secure
• Integrate external APIs, including those for AI interaction and medical device integrations
• Contribute to the development of our SaaS application, making foundational technology decisions and influencing key product decisions
• Work closely with a team including the head of engineering, principal engineer, product designer, and CEO to expand our customer story

Requirements

• Expert level proficiency with PostgreSQL
• Advanced experience integrating with external APIs
• Advanced experience integrating with external APIs
• Solid CS fundamentals
• Advanced testing experience and maintaining high reliability
• Experienced with Supabase (especially Row Level Security and Realtime features)
• DevOps expertise, implementation experience, and uptime reliability
• AI Training: Capability to help craft our long term AI strategy, along with training and customizing open source AI models based on medical data
• Medical device integrations (Immunoassay, Ultrasound, etc)
• Medical data (i.e. HL7, FHIR & HIPAA compliance)
• Voice activation, Speech-to-text, or Text-to-speech experience
• Solid proficiency with React (we're a NextJS shop; since we're a small team you may be asked to contribute to the front-end)
• Bonus: AWS experience with backend workflow tools such as temporal.io, airflow, etc.
• Python

Pay

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Our ideal candidate is +/- 3 hours timezone EST, though we are open to considering applicants outside that timezone if they are a perfect fit and are willing to work with our primarily USA based timezone.
