About the role
The Application Specialist’s primary role is to provide support for applications and cutting-edge technologies used in all paver product lines.
Responsibilities
- Assure machines and components adhere to the company quality program by performing reviews, inspections, and audits, and recommending corrective actions.
- Support dealerships and customers to ensure desired results are achieved.
- Monitor, develop, and share new techniques to reduce losses and improve quality.
- Recommend product changes to improve cost, delivery, and quality for the customer.
- Produce competitive analysis materials comparing products with key competitors.
- Work closely with Area Sales Managers to find technical solutions for customer-specific needs, including professional demonstrations, job site solutions, and competitive comparisons.
- Collaborate with the service department on technical service issues.
- Work with the Sales VP on sales-related issues.
- Improve the sales customer database to better understand and analyze North American markets.
- Travel to customer and dealer locations (50%-70% travel); must be able to travel internationally to Canada for customer support and to Germany for educational courses at Wirtgen factories.
- Install new or modified equipment and software at customers’ facilities to ensure full functionality.
- Perform software updates and field campaigns on machines at dealer locations when needed.
- Provide a communication link between the dealer and company to ensure effective service and support.
- Offer on-site technical assistance.
- Analyze, review, and inspect findings to determine the source of problems and recommend changes, repairs, or other corrective actions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or 4-5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience using formal and semi-formal teaching methods to deliver new and technical information effectively.
- Experience with telematic systems; WITOS and WIDIAG preferred.

Physical Demands
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
