Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group vocational counseling, both in-person and virtually, to help clients build job readiness and make informed career decisions.
• Conduct educational and vocational assessments to evaluate clients' work history, skills, and readiness for employment.
• Partner with state job development liaisons and local businesses to create new employment pathways and expand opportunities for clients.
• Help clients identify and pursue personalized career goals, assisting them with job placement and obtaining necessary identification.
• Cook up and host regular presentations and networking events with community and workforce partners to support job matching and training enrollment.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality client records and reports in compliance with regulatory standards and confidentiality laws.
• Collaborate actively as a member of the vocational team during case reviews, staff meetings, and treatment planning sessions.
• Offer ongoing follow-up and post-placement support to help clients maintain employment and connect with transitional benefits.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in vocational rehabilitation counseling, social work, mental health counseling or another related human services field, with a CRC or LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, strongly preferred
• At least three years of professional experience in vocational counseling, job placement, or workforce development with individuals with substance use disorders (SUD)
• Proven track record of conducting vocational assessments and facilitating individual or group job-readiness counseling
• Direct experience working within substance use disorder treatment modalities or similar client support systems
• Strong documentation skills, with experience writing formal vocational assessments and clinical progress notes
• Proficiency with industry-specific technology, including Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite
• Demonstrated experience working effectively with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
• Background in building professional relationships with local employers, community resources, or state agencies
• Familiarity with crisis intervention techniques and compliance standards like HIPAA and 42 CFR preferred

Benefits

This is a full-time exempt role with an annual salary of $82,000-$88,500 with a full benefits package. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 25 days of paid time off, access to a retirement account with an employer to match, and tuition reimbursement. This role is located in Jamaica, Queens and has a schedule of Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, w/ 1 evening 11am-7pm and operates fully on-site.
