About the Role

Promoting long-term recovery and self-sufficiency through community-based job placement assistance for clients in active treatment and recovery from substance use disorders. This position is grant funded by The New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS).

Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with any of the following:

  • Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC)
  • Master's degree (MS or MEd) in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling
  • ACCES-VR Counselor status
  • CASAC, LMSW, LMHC, LCSW, and/or Master's in a related field

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience working with adults diagnosed with substance use disorders
  • 2 years of experience providing employment services
  • Valid NY driver's license with safe driving record

Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 and group Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling to clients with substance use disorders (services may be delivered virtually, in the office, in the client's home, or in a community location based on client need and preference)
  • Help clients identify and pursue their employment goals by:
    • Conducting job readiness assessments
    • Guiding clients through skill-building and career planning activities
    • Providing pre-employment skill development, resume building, job search assistance, and interview prep
  • Provide job development and placement support, including:
    • Employment counseling and status tracking
    • Working in partnership with local businesses, workforce programs, supporters, and job development/technical assistance liaisons toward client goals
  • Educate employers and promote inclusive hiring practices for clients in recovery through:
    • Focused conversations
    • Follow-up presentations
    • Small workshops
    • Printed materials
    • Online presence
  • Keep current on labor market trends and educate employers about opportunities
  • Use social networking and internet research techniques for job placement, ensuring consistent, structured communication between employment counselors, job developers, and placement providers
  • Maintain accurate client records and documentation for services provided in the agency's Electronic Health Record
  • Maintain data as it relates to program performance, client outcomes, and statewide impact of this initiative, as per OASAS standards
  • Facilitate sharing of data with clients to support partnered decision-making and keep them informed of progress
  • Complete QI Training during onboarding and participate in QI refresher training as needed
  • Cultivate a culture of inclusion for all employees that respects individual strengths, views, and experiences
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
  • Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment by following established safety guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned
