Vocational Rehab Consultant

About the Role

As a Vocational Consultant at Unum, you will review, analyze, and interpret vocational and medical information. You will collaborate with claims professionals and other resources to assess vocational details and provide opinions on duties and demands. Your role involves engaging with employers, claimants, healthcare providers, and internal resources to facilitate return-to-work and stay-at-work services while delivering exceptional service in every interaction.

Responsibilities

• Apply vocational knowledge to assess and synthesize claim file information, offering balanced conclusions.
• Communicate complex vocational issues concisely (written and verbally) in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Partner with multiple resources to identify, develop, coordinate, and implement vocational rehabilitation and return-to-work plans.
• Collaborate with internal and external resources to gather pertinent vocational and medical documentation for accurate file assessment.
• Complete comprehensive forensic vocational assessments.
• Provide coaching to claims professionals to enhance vocational knowledge.
• Operate with urgency and flexibility to meet the needs of a rapidly changing environment while maintaining performance standards for quality and quantity of work.
• Demonstrate capacity and drive for learning and developing broad business and leadership skills, with openness to diverse ideas and self-awareness of strengths and areas for development.
• Maintain professional certifications, stay updated on new trends in the vocational field, and complete required educational activities.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation or a related field.
• Certification in rehabilitation counseling, disability management, or case management.
• 3+ years of vocational experience preferred.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.

This position may be filled at either the Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant (VRC) or Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant (Senior VRC) level, depending on the candidate's background, skills, qualifications, and relevant experience.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $53,300.00 - $100,700.00. Actual pay will be based on skills, geographical location, and experience.
