VOCATIONAL INSTRUCTOR (PRINTING/GRAPHIC ARTS)

About the role

The Vocational Instructor (Graphic Arts Safety) serves students in a program of study integrating an academic curriculum with technical and occupational curriculum to prepare them for post-secondary education and careers. The industry sector focus is on the Information and Communication Technology trade in the graphic arts field.

Responsibilities

• Engage with special education teachers and adult education instructors to collaborate on the selection and implementation of an academic curriculum and instructional materials.
• Collaborate with special education teachers and adult education instructors to implement an academic curriculum and instructional materials.
• Use data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.
• Provide and direct individualized and group-oriented education, transition, and vocational skills training related to the educational program as outlined in IPPs.
• Work with special education teachers and adult education instructors to select and implement instructional materials.
• Ensure the safety of public, staff, and forensic individuals by adhering to facility policies and procedures.
• Maintain order and supervise the conduct of individuals in the facility.
• Deliver classroom instruction and hands-on vocational training to ensure the achievement of adult students using evidence-based practices and recognized instructional strategies.
• Incorporate activities and instruction designed to build appropriate social emotional skills.
• Support students as they develop academic proficiency.

Requirements

• Valid Designated Subjects CTE Teaching Credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) which authorizes teaching graphic arts in the Information and Communication Technologies Trade Industry Sector.
• Maintain a valid Designated Subjects CTE Teaching Credential in good standing.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
• Able to participate in containments, interventions, or restraints in emergency situations.
• Able to work extended hours if needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in teaching graphic arts to adults.
• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in graphic arts.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Experience in developing and implementing IPPs.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a safe and secure learning environment.
