About the role
The Vocational Instructor at CoreCivic provides instructional services in various vocational and occupational subjects within an institutional, secure setting. The position aims to help inmates/students acquire vocational skills and meet specified learning objectives.
Responsibilities
- Prepare course objectives based on curriculum standards and applicable requirements.
- Plan and document a program of study tailored to individual student needs and abilities.
- Provide instruction using a variety of materials such as handouts, texts, and audiovisual aids.
- Evaluate students' performance and issue progress reports as necessary.
- Assist students with additional instruction as needed.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent is required.
- Five years of full-time, wage-earning experience in the subject vocational trade or career readiness skills are required, with at least four years being recent.
- A current trade certification in the subject vocational area of instruction and eligibility for provisional teaching licensure and trade certification in accordance with Tennessee Department of Education requirements are required.
- The ability to give clear instructions in the trade and/or vocational area is essential.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications is required.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
