Summary

The staff nurse assesses and monitors clients' health status and physical care needs at admission and while clients are in the program. They supervise clients in all aspects of medication self‑administration and all management of medication and other client care supplies. The staff nurse also provides health education for clients and families as needed or requested. They function as a member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team and perform administrative, clerical, and other tasks according to program policy. They demonstrate professionalism in all aspects of performance.

Requirements

• Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited college of nursing.
• License Required: Current RN licensure in the State of Nevada.
• Certification Required: BLS.
• Certification Preferred: Certification in gerontological or psychiatric nursing desirable.
• Minimum Work Experience: Acute‑care clinical and/or psychiatric nursing experience required.
• Corporate compliance ability to read and write in English.
• Good communication skills, grammar/spelling and reading/comprehension skills.
• Organizational, verbal, interpersonal, patient relations, analytical, and computer skills.
• Client and family teaching; teaching/learning materials development.
• Problem solving and complaint resolution.

Responsibilities

• Complete an admission geropsychiatric nursing assessment for every client according to unit standard.
• Implement necessary precautions as needed for each client.
• Monitor clients on an ongoing basis to identify health needs, problems, and/or symptoms.
• Communicate relevant clinical and other client care information to the Program Director, Medical Director, and Treatment Team members as necessary and appropriate.
