About the role

The Visual Merchandising Specialist reports to the Assistant General Manager and assists store leadership with merchandise presentations, planogram integrity, visual and seasonal displays, and in-store signage. This role collaborates with Base Camp Visual Managers on all aspects of in-store visual projects.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with department Outfitters to ensure customer-facing merchandise and visual presentation standards align with Base Camp Visual Merchandising Directives.
  • Maintain overall company brand standards at the highest level.
  • Assist with product-related visual elements, including mannequin displays, bust forms, department visual scenes, endcap planogram execution, seasonal retail events, promotional drive aisle monthly sets, and in-store signage compliance across all departments (Hunting, Camping, Fishing, Marine, Watersports, Apparel, Gifts, Footwear, Rainwear, and Hunt Clothing).
  • Serve as a key team member in planning and setting up local events and major retail events such as Spring Fishing Classic, Spring Turkey Event, Get on the Water Event, Fall Hunting Classic, Flannel Fest, Go Outdoors, and Santa’s Wonderland.
  • Act as a liaison to the Base Camp Visual Merchandising Team regarding department layout validations and opportunities to improve merchandising execution.
  • Assemble small-scale vendor-provided displays as needed.
  • Ensure daily that in-store displays are clean, signed, and meet brand standards.
  • Assist in training and educating department Outfitters on merchandising skills, VMD execution, and navigating the SharePoint communication portal.
  • Use a computer and navigate the online communication portal; basic knowledge of Microsoft programs is required.
  • Work flexible hours, including before and/or after business hours as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of visual merchandising retail experience, including displays, shop layouts, visual props, and customer service.
  • Comfortable using power tools.
  • Understanding of Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Background in hardlines and/or softlines visual merchandising.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly: Walking, standing, lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally: Computer work.
  • Seldom/Never: Sitting.

Pay

Starting pay rate: $19.00 - $21.75 per hour.
