About the Role
In addition to performing normal job duties, this operator is responsible for hands-on training within the department, overseeing employee qualification and certification, and providing feedback to supervision.
Responsibilities
- Train and certify new or transfer employees through the qualification and certification process.
- Train employees on new skills and work with them to improve or maintain satisfactory performance.
- Perform module audits and evaluate employees against certification requirements.
- Provide objective, fact-based input for performance reviews and participate in performance measure feedback.
- Avoid favoritism or the perception of favoritism in training and certification duties.
- Create and revise training modules, evaluations, and qualification criteria.
- Maintain records of employees and departments, and perform ongoing evaluations and random audits.
- Stay current on techniques in all aspects of interpreting.
- Support the maintenance of a harassment/discrimination-free environment.
Requirements
- Current Trainer certification desired or must obtain Tat’s certification within 30 days.
- Must be self-motivated and capable of high performance with little or no supervision (as determined by feedback from the Trainer Coordinator or Production Supervisor).
- Must consistently rate in the top 20% in Project Team Build issues and demonstrate good work habits, including a history of quality workmanship.
- Must be free of any disciplinary action for Quality, Productivity, or Behavior over the last 12 months.
- Must be willing to change department assignments, work across multiple departments, and adjust shift schedules as required by production needs.
- Outstanding performance in prior progression through the Training and Certification Program is desired (does not apply to trainers without prior access to the program).
- Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions, make progress observations, and accurately record technical data.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; must ensure directions are clear and understood to minimize rework.
- Good facilitation skills and the ability to teach individuals and small groups.
- Satisfactory attendance and safety record required.
- Must have held the position to train for a minimum of 12 months during the prior 3 years.
