About the Role

As an intermediate level Visual/Dimensional Inspector, you will inspect aerospace and marine gas turbine engine components for airworthiness and conformance to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) standards during receiving, in-process, and final inspections. This role involves verifying and validating work performed by CRT and subcontractors to meet specifications in accordance with FAA and other world regulatory bodies. The position operates from a state-of-the-art facility completed in June 2023, equipped with ultra-modern technology. Through an extensive in-house training program, you will receive computer-based and hands-on instruction to develop the necessary skills for the role.

Responsibilities

  • Visually inspect components for wear, corrosion, fretting, gouges, bent or worn features, elongated holes, and other damage.
  • Measure parts using tools such as micrometers, calipers, surface gages, dial-indicator gages, and other inspection equipment.
  • Determine whether part features meet standards for serviceability, reparability, and overhauled condition.
  • Interpret OEM manuals, instructions for continued airworthiness, and industry standards.
  • Thoroughly document visual and dimensional inspection findings in reporting forms.
  • Perform documentation inspection, including reviewing customer purchase orders, vendor documentation, and CRT documentation.
  • Clearly report all findings, recording location, size, acceptability parameters, and other relevant details.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team on new component procedures and repairs to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in aircraft maintenance (or similar experience) in civilian or military fields, or an applicable technical accreditation in a machine shop, manufacturing environment, mechanical engineering, or journeyman certificate.
  • Exposure to visual inspection methods, techniques, practices, and aids appropriate for the article being inspected.
  • Proficiency in using various gages, including calipers, borescopes, micrometers, optical or electronic comparators.
  • General knowledge of turbine engine components, functions, repairs, and shop processes.

Qualifications

  • High school or technical school graduate or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic mathematical operations, including working with decimals, fractions, and basic shop math.
  • Previous experience, familiarity, or exposure to measuring gages such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Careful attention to detail.
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, and willing to learn.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Work Environment

  • Pre-employment testing may include fitness-for-duty and vision exams.
  • Follow general shop safety procedures, including the use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection.
  • Work in difficult positions occasionally.
  • Stand and/or sit for portions of the shift.
  • Move parts weighing over 50 pounds using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods.
  • Move lighter parts (under 50 pounds) with or without assistance.
  • Occasional use of powered and non-powered hand tools.
