About the role

The laboratory of Dr. Yuwei Jiang in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Illinois Chicago has an immediate opening for a Visiting Research Scientist to support research in adipose tissue biology, obesity, diabetes, and aging.

Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, analyze, and troubleshoot experiments suitable for peer-reviewed publication and grant reporting.
  • Conduct studies involving inducible genetic mouse models, adipose lineage tracing, tissue collection, cold exposure, dietary challenge, glucose and insulin tolerance testing, and in vivo metabolic phenotyping.
  • Perform qPCR, immunoblotting, immunofluorescence, histology, adipocyte differentiation, mitochondrial assays, CUT&RUN/epigenomics, transcriptomics, and bioinformatic analysis.
  • Analyze data, prepare figures, maintain research records, and report findings to the PI and research team.
  • Train students, fellows, and junior laboratory personnel in adipose biology, metabolism, mouse genetics, epigenomics, and data analysis.

Requirements

  • PhD in Biological Sciences, Physiology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Metabolism, Genetics, Epigenetics, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant research experience.
  • Experience with cell culture, molecular biology, mouse models, data analysis, and publication-quality figure preparation.
