Pratt Institute’s Fashion Design department in Brooklyn, NY is building a pool of part-time faculty to teach courses that explore fashion as cultural messaging through clothes, production, craft, and contemporary aesthetics.
About the role
- Teach part-time courses in the Fashion Design department, emphasizing fashion’s social context and rigorous attention to production, craft, and aesthetics.
- Foster an inclusive, diverse learning environment that welcomes multiple perspectives, ideas, and experiences.
- Leverage expertise in sustainability, non-western fashion perspectives, digital storytelling, or fashion technology to engage students in critical and innovative design approaches.
Qualifications
Professional or scholarly focus may include design, textiles, knitwear, or related areas. We especially encourage applicants with experience in:
- Historical and critical perspectives on contemporary fashion design
- Non-western perspectives on fashion design
- Sustainability, materials, and circular design practices
- Digital storytelling, networked design, augmented/virtual reality, and CLO3D
- Technology, culture, and fashion media
Pay
Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications, ranging from $1,800 per contact hour.
