About the role
The Department of Physics at St. Olaf College invites applications for a full-time, one-year Visiting Instructor or Assistant Professor position beginning August 2023. The role involves teaching a variety of undergraduate courses for physics majors, including upper-division Newtonian mechanics, introductory mechanics, and advanced laboratory. The successful candidate will also teach an elective course such as computational physics, field theory, astrophysics, general relativity, or a topic in their specialty.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Physics, Astronomy, or a closely related field (required).
- Demonstrated potential for excellent teaching at the undergraduate level.
- Candidates nearing completion of their Ph.D. (ABD) may be considered for appointment at the rank of Visiting Instructor.
- Enthusiasm for teaching in an environment where close collaboration with students is the norm.
- Commitment to inclusive teaching practices, which are encouraged and supported.
