Description
Northrop Grumman is seeking a Virtual Simulation Software Engineer to join our team in Melbourne, FL. This role involves designing and implementing real-time, pilot-in-the-loop simulation software to validate aircraft requirements and evaluate missions. The ideal candidate must have experience in C++ and a Top Secret clearance.
Essential Functions
- Create or modify simulation frameworks and modules (airframe, kinematics, sensors, weapons, C2, threat models)
- Translate aircraft/weapon physics into high-fidelity, real-time models
- Perform trade studies via computer simulation
- Develop visualization models and databases for integration with a high-fidelity simulation environment
Basic Qualifications
- Software Engineer: BS in STEM with 2+ years of experience OR MS in STEM with 2+ years of experience OR PhD in STEM with 1+ year of experience
- Principal Software Engineer: BS in STEM with 5+ years of experience OR MS in STEM with 5+ years of experience OR PhD in STEM with 3+ years of experience
- Active US Government Top Secret clearance with a background investigation within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation
- Ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance within a reasonable amount of time
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with real-time simulation/software development
- Experience with hardware/software integration, especially integration of aircraft hardware into a lab/simulation environment
- Understanding of tactical aircraft aero-performance, sensors, weapons, and/or communication systems
- Understanding of Integrated Air Defense Systems and capabilities
- Understanding of operational Command and Control systems and software
- Experience working in a rapid prototyping environment
- Experience with weapon system level design, integration, and/or test & evaluation
