Virtual Patient Observation Technician- Nights (Casual)
About the role
This position works under the direction of a Registered Nurse and Virtual Health Leadership to provide consistent and appropriate oversight of patients who demonstrate behaviors that put them at risk for treatment interruption, or non‑violent patients with frequent needs for assistance. The role involves maintaining visual observation, verbally redirecting patients via a digital two‑way audio device, and promptly summoning nursing staff when assistance is required. It also includes collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues, and adherence to safe work practices as part of a High Reliability Organization focused on safety, quality, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Maintain visual observation of patients at all times.
- Verbally redirect patients over a digital two‑way audio device in the patient room.
- Immediately summon nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.
- Participate in collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues.
- Demonstrate safe work practices, follow safety rules, and work to prevent unsafe conditions and behaviors.
- Focus on safety, quality, and efficiency in all job duties as part of a High Reliability Organization.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED (required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be completed during orientation.
- Customer service skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to focus on a particular subject or task for an extended period.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize patient care information to formulate patient‑specific care recommendations.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare or service‑related industry (preferred).
Schedule
Night shift, scheduled weekly hours as needed.
