Virtual Middle School History Teacher (2026-2027 School Year)

About the role

The Virtual Middle School History Teacher will guide students through the study of human history with a focus on Western civilization and the American founding. Instruction emphasizes narrative history, primary sources, and thoughtful inquiry into the philosophical and political ideas that shaped societies.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver rigorous history instruction aligned with TEKS standards.
• Teach historical content using narrative instruction, primary sources, and discussion.
• Guide students in analyzing historical texts and documents.
• Facilitate discussions about historical ideas, political philosophy, and civic institutions.
• Absess student learning through essays, document analysis, projects, and exams.
• Provide meaningful feedback on written historical analysis.
• Maintain strong communication with students and families.
• Participate in faculty collaboration and curriculum development.
• Use technology effectively to support classical history instruction in a virtual environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in History, Political Science, Humanities, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of Western civilization and American history.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead thoughtful historical discussion.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in History, Political Science, or Liberal Arts preferred.
• Experience teaching classical history curriculum preferred.
• Experience with primary-source instruction and Socratic dialogue preferred.

Schedule
