Virtual Elementary Math Tutor K-8 Fully Remote

About the Role

BookNook is seeking talented USA-based math tutors to support school districts across the United States in consistent, recurring weekly sessions. Tutors will meet with students in a virtual classroom, using provided lesson content—no prep or planning required. This is an opportunity to make a direct, positive impact on students in grades K-8 by guiding them through their learning journey.

Responsibilities

• Maintain virtual student behavior and engagement
• Provide students with practice time and guide them with supportive corrections
• Deliver pre-designed, best-practice math lessons to support students at or below grade level
• Build meaningful professional connections with students and create an encouraging, motivating learning environment
• Attend at least 80% of claimed sessions to provide students with stable support

Requirements

• Experience as a classroom teacher, EL/ESL/ELL instructor, tutor, coach, or similar student support role (college degree preferred)
• Online instruction experience
• Ability to build rapport and motivate students
• Reliable computer (laptop or desktop), webcam, and high-speed internet connection (minimum 20 mbps)
• Clean, distraction-free environment for tutoring
• Must reside in and tutor from one of the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, or Washington, DC
• All sessions must be conducted from within the 50 United States or Washington, DC

Schedule

• Follows the school year (September to May), with most sessions lasting 30 minutes
• Peak demand is Monday–Thursday between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM ET, though tutors may claim sessions outside this window
• Tutoring opportunities and hours vary weekly; no minimum weekly hours required
• Tutors must attend at least 80% of claimed sessions but can drop up to 20% with backup coverage from the tutor community

Pay

• $20 per hour ($10 per 30-minute session)
• Opportunities for seasonal incentive payments
• Paid for completed, attended sessions regardless of student attendance
