About the role

We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our core platform team. In this role, you'll architect and build the foundational systems that power Syft's analytics platform, working across our backend services and data pipelines. You'll collaborate with product, design, and data science to deliver features that help our customers understand their workforce data.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs
• Architect data pipelines that process and transform large-scale workforce datasets
• Lead technical design discussions and drive architectural decisions
• Mentor and guide junior engineers through code reviews and pair programming
• Collaborate with product managers and data scientists to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Improve system performance, reliability, and observability

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience with web frameworks (Django, FastAPI, or similar)
• Deep experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and data modeling
• Proven track record of designing and operating distributed systems at scale
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

Qualifications

• Experience with data processing frameworks (Spark, Kafka, or similar)
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Background in analytics, business intelligence, or HR technology
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation)

Pay

$180,000 – $220,000 per year

Schedule

Full-time, remote. Core collaboration hours 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM PT.
