About the role
We are looking for a thoughtful and versatile software engineer to join our small but growing engineering team. You will work across the stack to build and improve Syft's core platform, which connects commercial kitchens with local bakeries. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning projects end-to-end, collaborating closely with product and operations, and moving quickly while maintaining high quality.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain features for our web application and internal tools
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code across the full stack (Python/Django on the backend, React/TypeScript on the frontend)
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and operations stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint planning
- Debug and resolve production issues, ensuring reliability and performance
- Contribute to technical documentation and onboarding materials
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience with Django or similar web frameworks
- Experience building frontend applications with React and TypeScript
- Comfort working with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD workflows
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively in a remote-first environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience designing RESTful APIs
- Understanding of software testing principles and experience with testing frameworks
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar) and containerization (Docker)

- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Self-directed with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Interest in food-tech, logistics, or marketplace platforms is a plus

Pay
$130,000 – $160,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
Schedule
Full-time, remote. Core collaboration hours are 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM Eastern Time, with flexibility outside of those hours.
