Position Summary
The Stony Brook Southampton Hospital videographer is a professional responsible for capturing, editing, and producing video content, which includes operating one and/or two cameras (DSLR and/or mirrorless), setting up lighting and audio, and managing post-production (editing and posting that meets ADA requirements).
Job Duties & Essential Functions
- Scheduling and coordinating taping and/or photoshoots with physicians, staff and/or patients (for testimonials).
- Pre-production: Planning, scripting and storyboarding video concepts, and understanding client requirements.
- Production: Setting up and operating professional cameras, lighting, and sound equipment. This includes capturing high-quality footage on location or in a studio.
- Post-production: Editing recorded footage with professional level software, incorporating SBM-approved graphics or special effects, and ensuring the final product is optimized for its intended platform.
- Equipment maintenance: Ensuring all equipment is functional, maintaining it, and troubleshooting any issues that arise.
- Collaboration: Working with clients, producers, directors, and other team members to align with project goals and deliver the final product.
- Community Outreach Event Filming: As part of Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Communications and Public Relations team, this position will require occasional filming at the hospital’s community outreach events, health fairs, educational programs and other public-facing initiatives as needed. May occasionally require attendance during evenings, weekends, outside of regular business hours.
Required Experience And Qualifications
- BA in Photography or Videography or relevant field
- At least 5 years producing short “doc-like” and informational and educational videos
Preferred Experience And Qualifications
- Experience producing short “doc-like” and informational and educational videos for a healthcare system
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
- A strong understanding of DSLR/mirrorless camera operation, lighting principles, and audio recording
- A keen eye for composition, visual storytelling, and creative direction
- Proficiency with professional level video editing software, such as Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe photoshop, etc.
- Strong time management to schedule photoshoots handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- The ability to communicate with clients and team members to understand project requirements and work well with colleagues and SBSH and MHLMP staff.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange accurate information. This role requires visual and auditory acuity and occasional heavy lifting to transport signage, flyers, posters, and brochures to various locations.
