NTT DATA is seeking a Videographer to join our team in Arlington, Virginia.

About the role

The Videographer (Audio/Video Technician) will support, plan, and coordinate recording of events and edit footage while working independently or with others. The role involves interviewing people and collaborating to obtain required footage and soundtracks for shoots, selecting equipment, and maintaining recording equipment, including performing some repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Management & Care:
    • Cleaning, maintaining, and storing cameras, lights, and audio gear.
    • Inspecting and testing equipment, including HDMI, XLR, and power cords for fraying or shorts.
    • Installing software updates on cameras and monitors; verifying functionality of dials, screens, and internal recording formats.
    • Managing equipment storage and transport, including packing gear into foam-cut, hard-shell cases.
    • Storing lithium-ion batteries at safe temperatures and half-charge when idle; keeping sensitive electronics in cool, dry areas.
  • Pre-Production:
    • Planning shoots, scouting locations, and meeting clients to discuss project goals.
    • Drafting, formatting, and finalizing scripts or interview questions.
    • Drawing or mapping out key shots visually to guide production.
    • Creating a sequential shot list for events.
    • Evaluating and securing filming locations for lighting and acoustics.
  • Production:
    • Operating video cameras, setting up lighting and microphones, including framing, focusing, and adjusting exposure, shutter speed, ISO, and white balance.
    • Filming supplemental cutaway footage (e.g., B-roll) and interviews.
    • Managing audio, including microphone placement, monitoring background noise/clipping, and recording room tone.
    • Guiding subjects/interviewees on pacing, tone, and movement.
    • Maintaining a safe filming environment (e.g., taping down cables, securing equipment).
  • Post-Production:
    • Organizing, assembling, and refining raw footage into a polished final video.
    • Editing video, color correcting, mixing audio, and adding motion graphics.
    • Adding computer graphics, closed captioning, and other effects.
    • Balancing exposure, white balance, and contrast for visual uniformity.
    • Adjusting volume levels for dialogue, sound effects, and background music.
    • Adding subtitles, including typing, timing, and formatting captions for accessibility.
    • Managing data by labeling clips, organizing folders, and sync-matching audio/video tracks.
    • Backing up final videos, project files, and raw media for long-term storage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (1.5 years of additional experience can substitute for 1 year of a typical degree program).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience supporting Videographer roles and responsibilities.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of camera framing, exposure, lighting techniques, and hardware management.
  • Proficiency in editing and scripting software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve).
  • Physical ability to move and hold recording equipment for long periods, including carrying heavy gear and standing/moving for extended hours.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with clients and production teams.
  • Ability to direct talent/subjects and work in fast-paced, rapidly changing environments.
  • Creative thinking with an excellent eye for detail and knowledge of post-production techniques.

Pay

The starting pay range for this role is $112,942 - $188,238. Actual compensation will depend on experience, technical skills, and qualifications. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance.
