About the Role

We're looking for visually sharp, detail-oriented individuals to help teach AI how to see and understand film. As a Video Shot Annotation Artist at Alignerr, you'll work at the shot level — breaking videos into discrete moments and describing them with the precision and clarity that AI models need to learn real cinematic language. This is a unique opportunity to put your knowledge of film grammar to work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside top research labs.

What You'll Do

  • Watch and segment video content into individual shots, confirming accurate shot boundaries
  • Annotate each shot with camera angle, shot size, and camera movement
  • Describe on-screen action in clear, concise, structured language
  • Apply stylistic and tonal tags — lighting style, visual mood, genre feel — where relevant
  • Use predefined taxonomies and labeling frameworks to ensure consistency across the dataset
  • Flag ambiguous transitions, unclear shots, or edge cases for review
  • Maintain accuracy and consistency across high-volume annotation workflows

Who You Are

  • Must-Have:
    • Strong visual literacy — you notice the difference between a dolly and a zoom, a medium close-up and a cowboy shot
    • Solid understanding of core film grammar: shot types, camera angles, and movement terminology
    • Comfortable working in structured tools such as labeling interfaces, spreadsheets, or annotation platforms
    • High attention to detail with the ability to stay consistent across repetitive tasks
  • Nice to Have:
    • Background in video editing, assistant editing, cinematography, or post-production
    • Prior experience in data annotation, dataset labeling, or AI training workflows
    • Familiarity with film theory or formal visual analysis

Why Join Us

  • Work on meaningful, intellectually engaging projects that shape the future of AI
  • Fully remote and asynchronous — work when and where you want
  • Collaborate with a global network of creative and technical contributors
  • Apply your film knowledge in a genuinely novel and impactful way
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as projects scale
