Video Producer
Location: Sacramento, CA (100% onsite, Monday–Friday)
About the role
Are you a storyteller? Not just a video editor. A storyteller. Someone who takes pride in work built to grab attention, hold it, and make people feel something enough to act. If that describes you and your work, your next opportunity is here at MyOutDesk (MOD).
In this role, you’ll own video end-to-end: the idea, the script, the shoot, the edit, and the performance metrics. You don’t wait for a brief—you have a point of view about what will work and you go make it. There is no committee to please and no six-week approval cycle. You’ll get room to experiment, permission to be wrong, and a real mandate to chase reach—videos that pull tens to hundreds of thousands of views. You’ll build a body of work you’re proud to put your name on, and a portfolio that changes your career trajectory.
MOD is at an inflection point. Loyal customers, climbing demand, and a reputation as one of the best companies in our space—but being one of the best is no longer enough. Becoming the category leader means telling our story better than anyone else, and video is the sharpest tool we have for doing it. That story is yours to tell.
MyOutDesk connects growth-minded businesses with top-tier global talent. Founded in 2008 in Sacramento, we’ve served more than 8,500 clients while building life-changing careers for remote talent worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Video strategy — the formats, series, and topics we bet on, and the calendar that keeps them shipping
- Concept and script — you find the story and write the hook before a camera turns on
- Production — shooting, lighting, and audio, whether that’s a studio setup, a remote interview, or your phone
- Post-production — editing, sound design, color, captions, and motion graphics
- YouTube — long-form content, channel growth, thumbnails, titles, and retention
- Short-form social — Reels, Shorts, and TikToks built for the platform, not cut down from something else
- Customer and sales video — testimonials, case studies, demos, and assets the sales team actually uses
- Webinars and podcast — recording, editing, and slicing each one into a month of content
- Performance creative — video ads, plus the variants and hooks we test against each other
- Measurement and experimentation — track what works, kill what doesn’t, and tell us why
- Video operations — footage library, project files, and a request process that doesn’t bury you
Requirements
- Run with minimal direction. You’ll get goals and context, not shot lists
- Pitch ideas nobody asked for. The best work here will start with you
- Ship fast and often. Find the appropriate balance of high-quality and speed
- Treat every video as an experiment — form a hypothesis, publish, read the data, adjust
- Partner with content, design, and sales so video connects to the rest of the engine
- You have strong video producing fundamentals and taste and only use AI to move faster — not as a crutch
- Report on performance honestly, including the misses. Failed tests are how we learn what works
Qualifications
- 4+ years producing video professionally, ideally for a brand or in-house team
- A portfolio with range — long-form and short-form, polished and scrappy. Tell us the results, not just the reel
- End-to-end capability — you can concept, shoot, and edit without handing off between steps
- Camera, lighting, and audio competence — you can run a shoot alone and get clean footage
- Expert-level Premiere Pro and After Effects; comfort in Photoshop and Illustrator
- Real storytelling and scripting ability — you can find the narrative in a dry topic
- Hook-based editing instincts — you understand retention, pacing, and why people keep watching
- Hands-on AI experience or genuine enthusiasm to learn — you see it as leverage
- Self-direction — you prioritize, plan, and deliver without being managed
- Continuous-learning and self-improvement mindset — you are constantly thinking about how you can better and perfect your craft
- A degree or equivalent experience in Film, Communications, Design, Marketing, or a related field
