Video Producer
Department: Marketing | Reports to: Senior Producer, Creative and Content
About the role
Daily collaboration with the Video Production team, broader Creative and Content team, Integrated Marketing, and Marketing Operations. Regular collaboration with leaders across the organization including Game Operations, Basketball Operations, Ticketing, Corporate Partnerships, Community, Communications, Facilities, and HR.
Creative and Content leads brand identity, visual design, and art direction for the Los Angeles Lakers. The team generates creative ideas and campaign concepts to achieve business objectives, designing and delivering creative stories and assets for brand storytelling, fan engagement, broadcast support, corporate partnerships, and season ticket members. The team produces daily creative and editorial content during the season and supports broader business initiatives including international growth, basketball operations, community programs, DEIB initiatives, and internal employee programming.
Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, plan, shoot, and edit video content.
- Collaborate with the Marketing + Comms Department to generate video content ideas.
- Plan and capture video in various settings: structured shoots, press conferences, media sessions, and team events.
- Build strong working relationships with players, coaches, and team personnel to facilitate access and capture authentic, engaging content.
- Use interpersonal skills, initiative, and resourcefulness to involve players and talent in content, including securing quick reads, interviews, and social content.
- Edit video utilizing graphics and effects, integrating highlights, archival footage, voice-over, sourced music, and interview footage.
- Shoot videos for Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok.
- Set up lighting, audio equipment, and cameras, including multi-camera shoots.
- Utilize photography skills to capture still imagery as needed.
- Update and post video using NBA CMS and social media properties.
- Stay current with changes in videography, including camera technology, hardware, and software.
- Work closely with the Marketing + Communications Department to ensure quality, consistency, and creative flow of overall goals.
- Assist with other special projects as needed.
Responsibilities are subject to change based on organizational needs and direction from management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
- A minimum of 2-3 years working in film/video production; sports experience preferred.
- Experience shooting video in a professional sports, entertainment, or other fast-paced content environment preferred.
- Experience working directly with athletes, talent, or high-profile personalities preferred.
Skills
- Highly proficient in After Effects, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, and Media Encoder.
- Knowledge of lighting packages, filters, lenses, and audio equipment.
- Familiarity with social media platform video standards.
- Strong camera operation and field production skills.
- Photography experience and familiarity with Canon photography equipment is a plus.
- Experience with Canon and Sony cameras preferred.
- Strong videography and cinematography skills, with a demonstrated ability to capture compelling content in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with players, coaches, staff, and colleagues in a professional sports environment.
- Resourceful and proactive, with the ability to identify content opportunities and execute them.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including conceptualizing goals and executing projects under rigorous deadlines.
- Flexible and adaptable, maintaining high productivity and effectiveness under pressure.
- Passion for sports and understanding of sport cycles and operations.
- Knowledge of basic news-gathering techniques with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated high personal standards for work, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
- Knowledge of basketball (preferred).
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment around high-profile talent.
Pay
The pay range for this role is $80,000 - $90,000 annually. Actual compensation is based on factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
Schedule
Location: El Segundo, with occasional off-site events. Travel: Less than 25% of the time, varies in-season.
