What You’ll Be Doing
- Own video production end‑to‑end, including in‑office studio shoots, podcasts, on‑location customer testimonials, conference/event content, recruiting and brand films, and product/launch videos.
- Handle pre‑production: scope shoots, build shot lists, and solve problems on paper before the crew arrives.
- Manage agency and freelance relationships from scoping and budgeting through on‑set direction and final quality control.
- Serve as lead editor, cutting projects yourself and directing external editors as needed.
- Develop a repeatable playbook covering formats, studio workflow, partner selection, and a pipeline that turns one production day into a month of content.
What You’ll Bring
- End‑to‑end range with real depth across pre‑production, production, and post‑production, demonstrated by a portfolio of both footage you shot and cuts you made.
- On‑set craft: command of camera, lighting, and audio, including multi‑camera interview setups and clean sound capture.
- Directing instinct: ability to make non‑professional talent feel natural on camera.
- Pre‑production discipline: habit of solving problems on paper before the crew shows up.
- Editorial judgment: strong sense of quality for cuts and clear, constructive feedback for others.
- Partner management: track record scoping, briefing, budgeting, and directing agencies and freelancers.
- AI in the workflow: eagerness to use AI for scripting, transcript‑driven assembly, and generative assets.
- 0‑1 mindset: comfort building the video function and its processes from scratch.
Other Non‑negotiables
- 4–7 years producing and editing video, ideally on an in‑house brand or creative team or at a production company serving brand clients.
- Command of Premiere or Resolve, plus enough After Effects (or equivalent) to handle light motion work.
- A reel that demonstrates both shooting and editing.
- In‑person presence 5 days a week in the Flatiron office (when not traveling).
What We’d Love To See
- Studio and podcast production: a room, rig, or show you stood up and ran on a reliable schedule.
- Customer storytelling: testimonial or case‑study video, especially shot on location at a customer’s office.
- Event capture: conference or live‑event production, turning a few days of footage into a full content slate.
- Motion design: design and animation chops that let you raise the quality bar without outsourcing.
- B2B range: work for a business audience that people actually choose to watch.
- Accounting industry fluency: familiarity with the accounting profession and genuine curiosity about the people on camera.
What Success Looks Like
- Customer proof on demand: testimonial video ready whenever a conference, launch, or campaign needs it.
- A studio that runs: the podcast ships on schedule, and production quality drives viewership.
- Partner leverage: agencies produce stronger work for Basis because pre‑production and direction are tight.
- Compounding output: every production day yields a hero piece plus platform‑native cuts, planned in advance.
- Operational scale: a documented video playbook enables the team to 10× output without 10× effort.
- Brand authority: Basis becomes synonymous with the future of AI in accounting through consistently high‑quality, shareable video.
