About the role

Focus on the Family, headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, seeks a Video Editor 2 to produce long and short-form video content for the Visual Media Department. The role involves editing studio and location shoots, live productions, social media reels, and cultivation series, often managing multiple projects of varying complexity each week in collaboration with Producers and Senior Video Editors. Post-production workflows prioritize both quality and speed, aiming for polished cuts that enhance storytelling and subject presentation.

Responsibilities

• Organize and edit projects to final master, including graphics creation and video sweetening
• Ensure completed products meet Focus on the Family standards before distribution
• Manage projects on the edit system, maintain accurate backups, and upload assets for review and archival per department and Focus Asset Management standards
• Support lighting, set design, camera operation, and other on-set or live/tape event duties as needed
• Provide customer service follow-up with media contacts as directed
• Handle multiple projects per week and dozens per month; document work, take quality notes, and translate client directives into finalized products
• Assist with on-set tasks during shoots or broadcasts as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in media production or related field, or equivalent work experience
• 3–5 years of hands-on editing experience
• Proficiency with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop
• Camera operation and/or other on-set production experience is a plus
• Working knowledge of Focus on the Family’s mission, philosophy, values, and objectives
