Vice President, Student Services
About the role
The West Kern Community College District is seeking a Vice President of Student Services to lead the development, direction, and evaluation of the student affairs program. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, educational partners, community organizations, and regional businesses to plan and implement high-quality student services programs responsive to the needs of the community and reflecting the District’s mission, goals, and values.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively across the District to support student success at Taft College.
- Provide leadership to the Dean, Directors, and Coordinators of various student services areas.
- Engage academic and classified personnel in planning processes based on the College’s comprehensive program review process.
- Lead the development and assessment of institutional and Student Learning Outcomes for the student services program.
- Participate and contribute to the ongoing evaluation of institutional effectiveness of Taft College.
- Develop and prioritize budget recommendations from all student services areas, assist in the preparation and administration of the annual budget.
- Maintain resource requests aligned with institutional priorities, monitor and control expenditures, and identify and implement budget management strategies.
- Collaborate with the Vice President of Instruction to support marketing and outreach efforts.
- Administer the Student Insurance Program.
- Supervise and evaluate assigned academic, classified, and management personnel.
- Serve as Title IX Officer, Section 504 and 508 Coordinator, and as an off-site member of all College councils and committees.
- Ensure compliance with state regulations and the Education Code as well as Board policies and procedures.
- Analyze and interpret pending or current legislation impacting student services programs and/or funding and recommend policy changes as appropriate.
- Recommend agenda items for Board approval; attend Board of Trustee meetings as a member of the Superintendent-President’s staff and participate in discussions regarding student affairs.
Requirements
- Possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited institution. Earned doctorate is preferred.
- Demonstrated academic leadership experience of at least five (5) years related to an administrative assignment at an accredited institution of higher education.
- Two (2) years of experience working with Title IX in one of the following capacities: Title IX Officer, Coordinator, and/or Investigator.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Pay
This is a full-time position and qualifies for participation in the District's benefits plan. The pay range for this position is Administrator Salary Schedule Range 26, ranging from $175,768 to $226,701 annually.
