About the role

We are seeking a Vice President, Scientific Affairs to lead the scientific and educational direction of Pharmacy Times Continuing Education (PTCE).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Scientific Affairs team, managing direct reports and driving training, onboarding, and ongoing professional development across the group
  • Use AI tools to improve the speed and quality of content development, literature analysis, proposal writing, and educational program execution
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to achieve business and revenue goals through strategic proposal development, grant writing, and client engagement
  • Identify clinical and educational gaps that represent CE programming opportunities, and translate those insights into fundable, high-impact educational initiatives
  • Develop and oversee text-based and multimedia CE-certified activities — live and online — ensuring all content meets ACPE and relevant regulatory standards
  • Stay current on clinical data, therapeutic area trends, medical writing standards, and regulatory developments that affect educational programming and grant funding strategies
  • Recruit, manage, and build relationships with program faculty and a network of freelancers and thought leaders
  • Write, edit, and collaborate with faculty and freelancers on CE documents, maintaining quality, budget adherence, and on-time delivery across all programs
  • Lead conference calls and communications with clients, faculty, and authors — serving as a trusted strategic partner and scientific voice for PTCE
  • Serve as PTCE's senior representative at assigned core conferences, supporting on-site execution of educational activities as needed
  • Lead significant process improvement and workflow management efforts, and manage continuous internal quality improvement initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for publication and presentation on continuing professional development and educational outcomes
  • Travel approximately 15 to 20 percent of the time for project-related work, conference representation, and office-based meetings

Requirements

  • PharmD or other advanced degree, with 10 to 12 years of overall strategic experience in continuing education or a related industry
  • At least 5 years of experience managing people, with a track record of building and developing high-performing scientific or medical education teams
  • At least 5 years of experience in medical education grant writing and content development in CME or CE
  • An AI-native mindset. You actively use tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or AI-assisted research and writing platforms to improve how you develop content, analyze literature, and lead your team — and you can speak to the impact
  • Deep knowledge of ACPE and other regulatory standards governing the development of CME and CE activities
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills in medical education and publishing, including the ability to interpret complex clinical data and present it with clarity and precision
  • Strong command of evidence-based medicine across multiple therapeutic areas, with the ability to conduct and apply independent literature analysis
  • Results-oriented, analytical, and highly organized — you thrive in deadline-driven environments and hold yourself and your team to an uncompromising standard of quality
  • Self-motivated and collaborative, with impeccable time management and the ability to manage multiple complex projects and competing priorities simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with organizational goals and client expectations

This includes: Specific tools in active use and how they support content development, literature review, proposal writing, or team workflows Measurable impact such as improved program quality, faster content development cycles, or increased grant success rates How you approach AI use responsibly in a regulated medical education environment, including compliance with ACPE and CME standards Bonus: examples of AI-assisted educational programs, content frameworks, or operational improvements that elevated scientific output or team performance

Pay

$165,000 to $180,000 per year, depending on qualifications. Eligible for annual company bonus program or commission incentive based on role.
