Primary Purpose

The Vice President of Safety will lead the strategic direction, execution, and continuous improvement of safety and workforce development programs across our midstream pipeline and power generation operations. This executive will unify safety priorities across multiple operating groups and project sites, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and dedication to doing the right thing.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for all corporate and field-level safety and training initiatives across midstream pipeline and power generation operations.
  • Refine and execute our comprehensive Safety Management System (SMS), TOPSafe aligned with corporate goals, regulatory requirements, and customer/partner expectations.
  • Lead and develop a multi-site team of safety professionals, promoting consistent standards, best practices, coaching, and performance metrics.
  • Partner with projects, operations and engineering leadership to identify risk, mitigate hazards, and strengthen jobsite and operational safety performance through practical controls and field engagement.
  • Oversee contractor/third-party safety and training alignment, including onboarding, qualification, field verification, audits, and performance reviews.
  • Champion a proactive safety culture emphasizing accountability, stop-work authority, learning, and continuous improvement at all levels.
  • Establish performance tracking and reporting using leading and lagging indicators; leverage data analytics to identify trends, target interventions, and measure effectiveness.
  • Lead incident investigation, response and learning for serious incidents and high-potential events, ensuring strong investigations, corrective actions, and enterprise-wide sharing of lessons learned.
  • Collaborate with executive and regional leaders to align safety and training priorities with growth objectives, operational plans, and customer commitments.

Education

  • Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience/Specific Knowledge: 15+ years of progressive safety leadership experience in energy infrastructure, with strong field operations expertise; midstream pipeline and/or power generation experience highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success managing safety and training programs in large, geographically dispersed organizations (preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable regulatory and consensus standards, which may include: OSHA and applicable state requirements DOT/PHMSA pipeline safety (as applicable to the role) API/ASME standards relevant to pipeline integrity and construction NFPA/NEC considerations relevant to power generation and electrical safety Company/customer-specific safety requirements and audit programs Proven ability to implement innovative, scalable safety and training initiatives that improve leading indicators and reduce serious incidents.

  • Physical Demands: Sitting; standing; walking or moving throughout the facility; driving; talking; seeing (specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus); hearing; feeling; bending or stooping; squatting or crouching; reaching; kneeling; pushing; pulling; lifting to 25 lbs.Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.

  • Employee is regularly required to use hands to type, touch, handle, or feel. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk and climb or balance.
  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Working Conditions: Will work non-traditional hours as needed.Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to support field operations and training programs (estimated [50–80%] travel, depending on footprint).

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $250,000-$320,000/yr.
