Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Texas business strategy development and execution to meet Texas business objectives
- Conduct business development activities related to technical ITS, emerging technology, and traffic operations projects, including pre-marketing, proposal preparation, interview, and contract negotiations
- Provide business development leadership in any combination of the following: traffic engineering or planning, transportation engineering or planning, signal operations, signal timing/coordination, ITS planning, ITS design, systems engineering, communications networks, system integration, connected and automated vehicle, and tolling
- Serve as Project Manager or Principal-in-Charge for large multi-disciplinary projects involving transportation planning, traffic engineering, signal operations/signal timing, or ITS design, implementation, and integration projects
- Support technical project delivery, provide technical expertise and guidance, guide key technical decisions, and make recommendations to our clients on complex and innovative transportation projects
- Outreach/communicate Iteris consultant services capabilities through direct client engagement, conference presentations, professional society/organization/chapter involvement and interaction
- Manage, mentor, and provide leadership to senior business development, project management, and professional staff to support their growth and development
- Participate in professional organizations at various levels (local, State, and/or national) and remain current in the latest technical innovations and non-technical (laws, codes, regulatory compliance) developments in traffic and transportation techniques and practices
- Periodically participate in coordination meetings and consult with other staff and division leaders
- Define client needs and develop a plan and proposal to address business capture and regional growth
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) required, field of study: Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Traffic Engineer (TE) licensure, Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification, International MunicipalSignal Association (IMSA) certification or certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) desired
- At least twenty (20) years as a demonstrated expert in transportation planning, engineering, or ITS industries
- At least fifteen (15) years’ experience in a leadership role. Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams is preferred
- At least fifteen (15) years’ experience in business development within the Transportation Planning, ITS, or Traffic Engineering/Operations industry
- At least fifteen (15) years’ experience working with and capturing projects with state, regional and/or local public transportation agencies in Texas
- Successful track record of public sector client service
- Extensive experience working with Major public sector clients in Texas as a consultant
- Strong leadership and communications skills to interact with internal staff and externally with clients and regulatory agencies
- Understanding of state, regional, or local transportation industry in general with a strategic market understanding of trends affecting the future of transportation
- Knowledge and experience related to transportation engineering, ITS, and emerging technology in Texas is preferred
- Passion for the transportation industry
