Vice President, Operations (Manufacturing)

About the Role

This position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating manufacturing and engineering efforts to champion manufacturing excellence and drive continuous improvement across Mactac North America's fleet of manufacturing facilities. The role utilizes a formal Managed Daily Improvement (MDI) process and continuous improvement tools such as Lean Manufacturing, PDCA A3 Problem Solving, 5S, Kaizen, and SPC. The VP, Operations will embrace data and metrics as key management tools and partner with the President to develop innovative processes for monitoring and improving manufacturing performance. The role focuses on process optimization within Operations and across other functional business areas to support continuous manufacturing optimization and overall company performance.

Responsibilities

• Direct and monitor the performance of a fleet of manufacturing facilities, adjusting operating plans to meet customer needs and strategic deliverables for Mactac's performance and financial targets.
• Provide leadership for the formal Managed Daily Improvement (MDI) process and tier structure across the fleet, driving ownership of performance and continuous improvement at each facility.
• Use MDI and continuous improvement tools to foster a daily improvement culture in Safety, Service, Quality, Cost, and People.
• Set objectives for Operations and ensure alignment with other company functional areas and Mactac's overall objectives.
• Develop short- and long-term plans for Operations, including financial impact analysis.
• Act as a catalyst for change and change management across the enterprise.
• Develop and administer systems to operate manufacturing facilities safely and in an environmentally friendly manner.
• Control manufacturing costs while ensuring high product quality and service levels.
• Serve as the final decision authority on workplace safety and environmental issues.
• Continuously monitor and improve manufacturing capabilities, reporting, and analysis.
• Control planned inputs and outputs, budget spending, labor utilization, material usage, and engineering planning and asset effectiveness.
• Determine equipment and human capital needs to optimize organizational effectiveness.
• Partner with Supply Chain to ensure on-time delivery of products to customers.
• Develop and approve operational plans for new manufacturing processes and technology.
• Establish objectives and develop procedures governing manufacturing processes.
• Ensure organizational compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
• Serve as the senior Operations leader accountable for:
  • Safety execution, including TRIR, DART, and prevention/improvement.
  • Environmental compliance.
  • Labor productivity.
  • Material productivity.
  • Period cost budget.
  • On-time/on-budget capital projects.
  • Product quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business management, engineering, operations management, or a related discipline required; MBA or other related advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of prior experience in managing plant operations, including human capital.
• Ability to manage a large, multi-departmental, multi-site, diversified manufacturing operation.
• Experience driving higher performance through leadership, organizational, communication, analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Working experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other similar Continuous Improvement methodology; certification strongly preferred.
• Financial acumen to read and understand financial reports and statements.
• Strong strategic abilities to envision company direction and facilitate change, with a demonstrated track record of working successfully in team situations.
• Excellent judgment and decision-making ability, including identifying problems and pursuing risk-balanced solutions.
• Ability to work within and map multiple complex chains of cause and effect.
• Discretion in handling confidential, sensitive, and proprietary information.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with stakeholders of various educational and technical backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and coordinate diverse departmental interests with corporate procurement strategies.
• Ability to function comfortably and effectively in a rapidly changing environment.

Location and Travel

This role is based in Stow, Ohio, and requires up to 50% travel.
